Every time I find myself surrounded by green landscapes and mountain views, I experience a deep sense of happiness. Nature does not need to be staged or directed — it is already beautiful in its own way. Taking my camera with me and capturing these quiet moments is one of the things I truly enjoy as a photographer.
I always bring my camera when exploring nature. Mountain landscapes teach me to slow down, observe light and appreciate authentic moments — the same approach I bring into my portrait photography.
Gaisalpsee Lake
is located in the Bavarian Alps in Germany, a few hours away from Munich by car. Summer is the perfect season for this alpine hike, when the trails are surrounded by greenery and the mountain landscapes are at their most beautiful.
The hike begins through a peaceful forest, where you walk alongside beautiful waterfalls and mountain streams.
After leaving the forest, you will find several traditional mountain guesthouses where you can enjoy Bavarian cuisine and take a break with a refreshing Radler or local beer.
The final part of the route is the most challenging — a steep and rocky climb leading into the mountains. But all the effort is worth it when you finally reach the lower Gaisalpsee Lake, surrounded by impressive Alpine peaks.
The moment you arrive at the lake, the tiredness from the climb almost disappears. The hardest part is finding the courage to step into the crystal-clear mountain water. The first seconds feel freezing, but soon you experience an incredible feeling of freshness and freedom.
Lying on your back and looking up, you see only the mountains and the sky above you. It is one of those moments that stays in your memory forever.
This hike requires a good level of fitness, as some sections are steep and very rocky. Proper hiking shoes are highly recommended because parts of the trail can become slippery due to mountain streams and wet stones. There are also areas without protective barriers, so careful attention is important.
But places like Gaisalpsee remind me why it is sometimes worth leaving the city behind and searching for inspiration in nature.
